Terminal Lance is a comic strip created in 2010 by Maximilian Uriarte that satirizes United States Marine Corps life. According to Uriarte, he created the strip "to poke fun at the Marine Corps much like Gunny Wolf’s old Sempertoons, but with an emphasis on the grunt Lance Corporal’s point of view."[1] The name is a slang term for a Marine who finishes a four year enlistment (i.e. terminates) as a Lance Corporal. The system for advancement to Corporal and Sergeant, "cutting scores," is heavily dependent on career-field and seniority—this leads to a large number of "terminal lances" in infantry specialties who might, in another field, have advanced to NCO rank.[2][3]

As of June 28, 2011, it has received over 38 million hits.

INTERWEBZ DOMINENCE

As of December 2011, Terminal Lance has become the greatest USMC website since Hardcore Junky came on the scene over a decade ago. It has gained popularity with 90% approval rate with all Marines worldwide. Leatherneck.com has maintained its 10% approval with the 60+ age group that never really understood what being a Marine Corps Brother is all about, but it still scatches their itch of maintaining some type of authority. With over 9000 dedicated posters daily, it is the only authorized PME allowed Marine Corps wide.
